Parking problems

Hold on tight because we're about to take a virtual trip to the world of the ultrawealthy where finding a parking spot is like searching for a needle in a haystack. Welcome to the glamorous realm of private jet owners who attended the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, where they were facing a challenge that could make finding a parking spot at the mall on Black Friday seem like a piece of cake.

You see, there's a slight issue. The four major airports in the area only have a measly 475 parking spots available for private jets—and they're all reserved! With more than a thousand private jets that were expected to flock in for the Super Bowl, it's a classic case of too many jets, too few spots. It's a situation that was leaving these high-flying individuals metaphorically circling the airport in search of that elusive parking space.

Last year, the situation was no different during the big game in Glendale, Arizona. Despite not having the allure of Adele's residency or those beloved 99-cent buffets, the 1,100 private jet parking spots in the area were completely occupied. It seems that people in the highest tax brackets just aren't keen on rubbing elbows with the common folk on commercial flights when it comes to big sporting events.

So, where else do these private jet owners tend to grace with their extravagant arrivals? According to Simple Flying, who knows a thing or two about high-flying festivities, there are a few notable events that attract the most private jet traffic. Picture this: The Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia, sees around 1,500 private planes descending upon its regional airport each year. Another event that sets private jets soaring is the Kentucky Derby. More than 900 of these luxurious flying machines arrive in style to witness Mage win the first leg of the Triple Crown. Last but not least, let's not forget the F1 race in Las Vegas. In November, this thrilling race served as a test run for the Super Bowl madness, and every single jet parking spot was happily occupied—no empty spaces for the elite, my friends.

Of course, nothing in this world of grandeur comes for free. Special event landing fees at Henderson Executive Airport and North Las Vegas Airport range from a whopping $750 to $3,000 per day! But fear not, Harry Reid International Airport believes in consistency and charges the typical range of $20 to $150 per day for the pleasure of leaving your lavish jet While the struggle for parking might have been real, it's just part of the extravagant lifestyle these individuals have come to embrace.

Now, if only we could all teleport ourselves into one of those luxurious jets and join in on the fun!

Love is in the air, and so are niche bookstores dedicated to all things romance! From coast to coast, these love-filled havens have been blooming like flowers in spring. Whether you're in Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, or even as far as San Diego or Belfast, Maine, you'll find these delightful stores catering to romance enthusiasts.

What's fueling this passionate trend, you ask? Well, it turns out that the romance genre is sizzling hot right now! Sales of romance novels have soared by a jaw-dropping 52% year over year, according to the cool folks at Circana, a consumer research firm. And how did this happen? TV adaptations and the rise of #BookTok have played their part, enticing a wave of fresh-faced and young readers to dive headfirst into the romantic world.

Enter the heroes and heroines behind these romance-themed bookstores. Take Lauren Richards, for example, who traded in her political consultant hat for a dreamy escapade at Tropes & Trifles in Minneapolis. She realized the world needed a place where readers and writers could find books oozing with happiness and happily-ever-afters. Then there's Amanda Anderson, the captain of The Last Chapter Book Shop in Chicago. During the pandemic, she noticed people craving sweet escapism, and what better way to find that comfort than in the pages of a romance novel?

But hold on to your lace fans and velvety cushions, because romance isn't what it used to be! Oh no, it has evolved into so much more. Gone are the days of traditional "bodice-rippers" with a shirtless Fabio gracing the cover. Nowadays, modern romances celebrate diversity like a grand party. The characters come from all walks of life, representing various races, sexual orientations, gender identities, and storylines that will make your heart skip a beat.

At Tropes & Trifles, where love is temporarily undergoing some renovations, you can find anything from classic period piece paperbacks that sweep you off your feet to queer werewolf tales that not only embrace canoodling but also the quest to dismantle capitalism. And if you fancy a romance with a mafia twist or a story about aliens finding love, fear not! These niche bookstores have got your cravings covered.

The rise of these specialized romance bookstores captures the growing demand for inclusive and diverse love stories that warm our hearts. So, whether you're a devoted romance reader or a curious soul looking to explore the world of love through literature, these stores are here to provide a sanctuary of blissful endings and passionate journeys. It's time for love to take center stage in the wonderful world of books!
